Public Utilities is responsible for the following:
  • Sanitary Sewer Utilities 
  • Storm Drainage Utilities 
    • Stormwater pollution prevention program 
    • Minimum engineering standards for stormwater conveyance and management
  • Street Lighting: There are approximately 1,600 street lights located in the City of Brooklyn Center, some that are City owned and operated and some that are owned and operated by Xcel Energy (see map).

    To report a street light that is out and owned by the City, please contact Public Works at 763-585-7100 or report online through Notify the City.

    To report a street light that is out which is owned by Xcel Energy, please contact Xcel Energy directly at 800-960-6235 or complete and submit their Online Outage Form.
