YOUTH RECREATION CENTER
Brooklyn Center School District #286 and the City of Brooklyn Center are pleased to announce the opening of the new Brooklyn Center Youth Recreation Center. Located on the grounds of Brooklyn Center High School, 6500 Humboldt Avenue North, the Youth Recreation Center is a 7,000 square foot multi-purpose facility constructed with a $304,000 grant from the Hennepin County Youth Sports Grant Program.

The Youth Recreation Center is the first and only indoor facility in Brooklyn Center specifically dedicated to youth sports. In a recent youth mapping survey, Brooklyn Center youth indicated a lack of involvement in after school programming and a strong need for safe places to meet and recreate. The hope is that by opening the center, the physical and social needs of Brooklyn Center youth can be met by providing youth access to safe, quality and accessible recreational sports programs.

The City of Brooklyn Center will take the lead in scheduling the space, which is anticipated to be used by the District, the City and many other area youth serving organizations that will provide needed recreation programs and services out of the center, making it a true recreation hub for the community. Groups interested in using the facility are encouraged to contact the Community Activities, Recreation and Services Department at 763-569-3400 for more information.
