Data Practices Request
The City of Brooklyn Center must comply with the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act, a State Law (Minnesota Statutes, Section 13.03, Subd. 2 and 13.05, Subd. 5 and 8) that classifies all information or data collected, created, received, maintained, or disseminated by governmental entities. Under the Act, all records collected and maintained by the City are considered public unless otherwise classified by a State or Federal Law.  Data that is classified as nonpublic or private by law cannot be released such as health data on individuals, complainants of real property, etc.

Data practices requests should be directed to the responsible authority, the City Manager. Access to public data is required regardless of the nature of the person's interest in the data. Any person will be allowed to review and/or receive copies of public City records at reasonable times, places and costs. The City is not responsible for providing information that is not already in a document; requestors may be charged the costs of preparing this data. In order to make sure you receive the information you request, please complete and submit the Data Practices Request Form.
