Police Reports
Requests for Police reports forms can be mailed in or submitted in person Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. The cost of a police report is 25 cents per page. You will be notified by phone when your report is ready. Please contact the records division during business hours if you have further questions (763) 569-3333.

Property & Auction
The Brooklyn Center Police Department receives items citizens have found and turned over to the police department on a daily basis. There are some cases where our staff cannot identify and/or locate the rightful owner; however, we use a significant number of resources to locate the owner and many found items are returned to the rightful owner. Some of the most common items turned in include: keys, wallets, purses, jewelry, cell phones, and backpacks. 
  • If you have lost something in the City of Brooklyn Center and would like to check if someone turned it in to the PD, follow the steps below:
  • Provide your first & last name, phone and email. 
  • Provide the date/time/place the item was last seen. 
  • Describe the item in as much detail as possible; A few examples: make, model, serial, color, any damage, scratches, tears, anything that makes your lost item unique from others.
    • Attach any photo(s) you have of the item. (optional)
    • Proof of ownership, (receipt, phone bill, photos of the item, password to unlock phone/laptop, etc.) (optional)

In order to claim a lost item you will be required to set up an appointment, provide a valid ID, and sign for the item(s), attesting rightful ownership.

Gun Permits
Gun purchase permit applications can be obtained on-line or in person Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Once your application has been submitted the police department has 7 days to process or deny the permit. To obtain a permit to carry please contact the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Department.
